Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) was enacted in August 1988 and it requires businesses to provide 60 days notification in advance of plant closing or mass layoffs.

WHO'S REQUIRED TO FILE

The majority of states requires businesses that employ more than 100 employees who layoffs 50 or more employees to file a notice with their states, however, some states have more strict requirements.
